About Joslin
Together, we can beat diabetes
Just about everyone will be touched by diabetes in some way during their lifetime. More than 20 million people in the U.S. have diabetes and 50 percent of Americans are at risk for the disease. Despite these staggering statistics, there’s reason to be hopeful. Joslin Diabetes Center has evolved to meet the ever-changing challenges of diabetes amid the dynamic landscape of science, technology and medicine. Joslin discovers, creates and distributes new knowledge about diabetes prevention and treatment options – expanding worldwide efforts to combat this disease. The High Hopes Fund generates critical resources to support these multi-dimensional efforts.
The Fund was established in 1993 by Academy Award-winning lyricist Sammy Cahn, who wrote the song “High Hopes” and dedicated it to kids with diabetes. The former Joslin patient and songwriting legend’s goal was to provide hope and encouragement to people with diabetes, while supporting the world-leading diabetes center to fight a disease that affects so many. The High Hopes Fund benefits millions of children and adults who live with diabetes and the millions more at risk for the disease. Joslin gives them high hopes for a world without diabetes.
